Coffee became a fashionable commodity in the 17th century, some say that the first coffee house was opened in Venice in 1645.

A coffee tree takes 3 years to mature, while the beans can take anywhere between 6 (Arabica) to 9 (Robusta) months. They are green as they appear and darken to a cherry red, before turning brown when they are dried.
